Frequently Asked Questions About Hot Tub Electrical Installation

Where does the hot tub disconnect switch have to be located?

The National Electrical Code mandates that the emergency GFCI disconnect switch must be in direct line of sight of the hot tub, at least 5 feet away from the water edge, and no more than 50 feet away.

Can I run my hot tub on a standard 120V wall outlet?

Some small 'plug and play' tubs can, but they take 24+ hours to heat and cannot run the heater and jet pumps simultaneously. A dedicated 240V 50A circuit heats rapidly and maintains temperature during cold nights.

Do you bury the electrical conduit in the yard?

Yes, we trench and bury PVC conduit to NEC depth standards (typically 18 inches below grade) to keep your lawn clean and hazard-free.
